Positive balance for Hesse's outdoor pools: successful season despite the rain!

The 2025 outdoor pool season in Hesse is coming to an end, and despite the unstable weather, the number of visitors to many outdoor pools is showing a positive outcome. In recent months, temperatures have fluctuated between 20 and over 30 degrees, accompanied by rain and sunshine, but this hasn't stopped people from jumping into the cool water. Hessenschau reports that the Rosenau outdoor pool in Fulda alone is closing today, September 3rd, which has welcomed around 107,400 guests since it opened on May 1st - an increase of almost 10,000 compared to the previous year.

The other outdoor pools also did well. While July was weak due to the weather, August saw many people return to the outdoor pools. The Lindenau-Bad in Hanau will not close until September 14th and is even offering a dog bathing day on September 21st. Hanauer Bäder-GmbH reports a pleasant season, with highlights in June and August. In Darmstadt, the outdoor pools will also close on September 14th before the indoor pools open their doors after the summer break on September 16th.

Special features from the region

In the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, the outdoor pools are also optimistic. Despite changeable weather and sometimes heavy rain, many bathing lovers were convinced. The Bebraer Biberbad in particular reported a record visit with 1,200 bathers on July 2nd. N-AG reports of high visitor numbers, even if the temperatures fluctuate.

The outdoor pool season was a success in many regions of Hesse, as the reports on the outdoor pools in Schleswig-Holstein and in the Ilm district show, where the requirements for pool capacity have already been reached. Visitors are even directed outside during peak times. The operators are optimistic for the remaining weeks of the summer holidays, and the number of visitors creates confidence.

A look at the next events

A real highlight will be the dog bathing day in the Lindenau-Bad in Hanau on September 21st, and the forest swimming pool in Rüsselsheim has also extended its opening times until today, September 3rd. In Wiesbaden, the outdoor pools will be closed gradually, with the last pool, the Kleinfeldchen, remaining available to guests until September 21st. Today there is also dog swimming in the Kallebad, also in Wiesbaden, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All in all, despite the challenges posed by the weather, the 2025 outdoor swimming season has shown that the seaside resorts are very popular. Many swimmers took advantage of the opportunity to spend some relaxing time on the water during the warm days.
