Campers celebrate an unforgettable weekend at Kassel's spectacular water features!

The weekend attracts numerous campers to Kassel, where not only the idyllic nature awaits, but also the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Wilhelmshöhe Mountain Park. How HNA reports, the campsite on Karlsaue and Fulda is very popular, and families and couples in particular check in there. A special highlight are the legendary water games, which are over 300 years old and only take place on certain days.

One of the guests, Karol Gabryel from Warsaw, spends two nights with his son in Kassel. The passionate traveler has already visited many German cities with UNESCO World Heritage Sites and regrets that the fountains only take place on Wednesdays and Sundays. These traditional gravity-based water features have attracted thousands of visitors each year since they were first presented in 1714. They stretch over 2.3 kilometers and an impressive 750,000 liters of water flow during each performance, making for an unforgettable sight.

A weekend full of activities

But it's not just Gabryel who enjoys his time in Kassel. The couple Stephen and Nadia Payne from London are also enthusiastic and have already visited the Fulda, the Orangery, the Hessian State Museum and the Grimm World. For them, water features are at the top of their list of things to do. Uwe Bley and Simone Rost from Jena met with their daughter, who lives in Kassel, and also explored the Grimm world while camping at the campsite.

In addition, an annual Bulli meeting took place in Kassel, to which participants traveled from Hanover, Leipzig and Wolfenbüttel. The Bulli fans enjoyed the weekend with paddling, barbecuing and stand-up paddling. A young couple from Fulda and the siblings Anna and Nina Thorwart from Würzburg were also in the city, on their way back from Sweden, but with little time to explore Kassel.

The majestic water features

However, the water features in Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe are not just an impressive spectacle. The park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013 and offers a unique experience with the large fountain that shoots up to 50 meters high. In fact, the total work of art of water arts and garden art reflects the elegance and wealth of European absolutism UNESCO describes.

From the Hercules statue that towers over the park to Wilhelmshöhe Castle, the architectural centerpiece, the Bergpark is a must-see for every visitor. The water features run until October 3rd, and the next opportunity to admire them is: Wednesday, Sunday and on Hessian public holidays, they start at 2:30 p.m. If you want to be there, you should set off in good time and arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand.

There is a lot going on in Kassel, and for anyone interested in nature and culture, there is no reason not to enjoy the weekend in the city. Whether camping, paddling or marveling at the water features - everyone will find fun here!
