Ebersburg-Ried: Dream start to the Hessian fire brigade championship!

The fire service exercise in Kassel was a complete success, and the teams showed what they were made of. The winning team from Ebersburg-Ried in particular was able to boast an outstanding performance of 98.3 points. Together with the team from Hilders-Eckweisbach, which also finished with the same number of points, Ebersburg-Ried qualified for the next state competition, which will take place on August 31st in Lorsch. It will be interesting to see whether they can lift the Dr. Walter Lübcke Challenge Cup again, because the signs are good!

A total of 19 fire brigade teams from North-East Hesse took part in the district decision at the Hessian State Fire Brigade School on the weekend of June 28th. The event was organized by the Kassel Regional Council and presented the participants with a serious challenge. The exercises included both a theoretical part with 15 questions and a practical exercise that simulated a GABC operation. Particularly commendable achievements were noted by the Meißner fire department in the theoretical area, which indicates a high quality of training.

Fascinating results and jealous competition

The rankings of the participating teams are a topic of discussion: Ebersburg-Ried and Hilders-Eckweisbach share first place, while Eichenzell-Eichenzell I came fourth and Nüsttal-Gotthards came fifth. Many people felt a sense of relief when they heard the results of the performance test. Almost all teams were in action and proved that teamwork is very important. Andreas Baumgarten, the leader of the winning team, spoke of excellent cooperation and the successful integration of substitutes, which ultimately made a significant contribution to the victory.

District President Mark Weinmeister praised the excellent performance and tireless efforts of the firefighters. Training leader Thomas Finis expressed himself similarly positively and praised the high level of the exams: “The quality of training of the fire brigade members is impressive!” This shows that the fire brigade teams' commitment and preparation were not in vain.

The look forward

Intensive training now begins for the teams that have qualified for the state finals. You have to prepare yourself as best as possible for the competition. The new team training project, which was developed over the last four years under the leadership of the universities of Lübeck and Bremen and the Cologne fire department, could provide valuable support. It offers numerous materials to standardize teamwork during firefighting, which are available free of charge on their homepage. This makes it possible for fire departments to work independently on team development and optimally prepare their emergency services.

All in all, the recent fire brigade performance exercise in Kassel shows that the firefighters from North-East Hesse are not only highly motivated, but can also show excellent performance. Who knows, maybe they will make a splash again at the next state tournament and take home the coveted trophies!
