Despite dominance, KSV Hessen Kassel lost to Großaspach 0-1
Today, September 6th, 2025, things got really busy in the Auestadion. KSV Hessen Kassel welcomed SG Sonnenhof Großaspach to the eagerly awaited regional league game. Both teams had different ambitions: Kassel wanted to finally break the downward trend after remaining without a win in the last three games. The last match ended unfortunately for the North Hesse team with a 2-2 draw against FC Bayern Alzenau, while Großaspach recently recorded a 2-2 draw against SV Eintracht Trier 05. Kassel is currently in eleventh place in the table, while the guests from Großaspach are very popular with their third place and 10 points after five rounds in the regional league.
Kick-off took place at 2:00 p.m. Already in the 12th minute it was 0:1 for the guests from Großaspach. Fabian Eisele took the early lead with a goal. Despite this setback, KSV showed great morale and dominated the game. The chances were there, but even a shot from Rupp that just missed the goal couldn't get the KSV supporters to celebrate. Another tangible proof of KSV's strength was their powerful game, which led to difficulties for the guests, who played in a 4-4-2 system.
The game in detail
The referee Mika Forster from Oberderdingen officiated the game without any major controversy, but the number of spectators was not announced and there was no mention of yellow cards. Another small setback for Kassel was the loss of Benjamin Girth, who was not in the squad due to a torn muscle fiber. The starting line-up for Kassel was: Weyand – Kopf, Brill, Springfeld, Podolski – Stark – Böyükata, Rupp, Bravo Sanchez, Bonianga – Plavcic. The bench players consisted of Michalik, Podolsky, Ender, Pollex, Huras, Molinari, Janes, Stoppel and Kretschmar.
On the other side was the Großaspach team with Reule, Mistl, Tasdelen, Kleinschrodt, Aidonis, Kunde, Leon Maier, Landwehr, Eisele, Nuraj and Louis Maier in the squad. The SG's bench players were Gröteke, Liesche Prieto, Hagemann, Kuntze, Emmanuel, Schlüsselburg, Bräunling and Ramaj.
A review and outlook
The spectators had to come to terms with the narrow defeat that afternoon. Kassel's coach and players were visibly disappointed, because after a disappointing start to the season, points were urgently needed to move away from the bottom of the table. Großaspach's offensive was fantastic, confirming its form with this win and remaining in the promotion race. KSV Hessen Kassel now has the task of analyzing their performances and positioning themselves better for the upcoming games.
A special moment was the minute's silence before the game, which was dedicated to the late Dirk Lassen. This shows that football is not just a game, but also a community that sticks together in good and bad times. The question remains: Can Kassel find its way back to its old strength in the coming games, or will Großaspach continue to do their homework so brilliantly?
