There was a lot going on in the Rheinhessen district league at the weekend! The new football season started on August 10, 2025 with some exciting encounters that captivated the fans. A special highlight was the match between TuS Wörrstadt and Fortuna Mombach, which ended with a spectacular 4:3 for the hosts.
Wörrstadt showed from the start that they were willing to score the first three points of the new season. Player-coach Rene Novo was happy with his team's performance, despite the difficulties Mombach caused them. In the first half, the hosts quickly took a 2-0 lead with goals from Julian Jung in the 21st minute and Emanuel Dragun in the 25th minute. But Mombach didn't give up and shortened the score to 2-1 shortly before the break through Shahrokh Abholhasani.

After the break, the Wörrstadt team quickly found their rhythm again and increased the gap to 3-1 when Dragun struck again in the 48th minute. But the game should remain exciting. Mombach didn't let themselves get down and equalized to 3-3 within just eight minutes through Takuya Itabashi. But Wörrstadt showed the necessary morale and won the game with a goal from Marcel Thiele in the 82nd minute. A perfect start to the season for Wörrstadt, which is also steeped in history as it is the team's first win in the district league!
Another fascinating duel took place not far away. VfR Nierstein won the neighborhood duel against SV Guntersblum 2-1. TSV Zornheim was also successful and sent TSV Mommenheim home with a clear 4-1. These games were just some of the exciting encounters that offered spectators a lot of action. In the game between TSG Bretzenheim II and VfL Gundersheim there was nothing to gain for the Bretzenheimers; They had to admit defeat 0:3.
