Wachenbuchen celebrates Kerb: Four days of fun for young and old!
The Kerb in Wachenbuchen, a district of Maintal, is in full swing and is delighting visitors from near and far. The traditional folk festival will take place from August 8th to 11th, 2025, which this year is organized by the Wachenbuchen wind orchestra (BOW). On the occasion of their 65th anniversary, the musicians not only show their commitment to culture, but also create a colorful setting for a festival that attracts thousands of people every year. This year even summer returns in time for the Kerb and ensures ideal conditions.
Organizing this event, which started in December 2024, required a good hand. Under the leadership of Stefan Schmidt, the first chairman of the BOW, Felix Hartmann, Timo Betz and Kirsten Ruppert put together an extensive program. Important partners such as breweries and security services were involved early on, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. With a security effort that has been increased from 4 to 26 supervisors, we are well equipped to guarantee the safety of all guests.
A program for all generations
At the Kerb, visitors experience a diverse program that offers something for young and old alike. Musically, guests can expect a spectrum from the 90s and 2000s to Oktoberfest hits. The highlights of the festival are:
- Freitag, 8. August: Fayette um 20:30 Uhr.
- Samstag, 9. August: Familiennachmittag um 14:30 Uhr und die 90er & 2000er Party mit „Buffalo & Walace“ um 20:30 Uhr.
- Sonntag, 10. August: Zeltgottesdienst um 10 Uhr, Blasmusik, Spielenachmittag um 15 Uhr, und Wiesnhits mit den Alpenfuzzis um 19 Uhr.
- Montag, 11. August: Frühschoppen mit dem Blasorchester um 10 Uhr und Kerbausklang mit „Eine Band namens Wanda“ um 19 Uhr.
The traditional tent service and the games afternoon on Sunday provide a festive setting, while Notch Monday is considered the unofficial “national holiday” of Wachenbuchen. An entry fee will be charged on Fridays and Saturdays, but the amount has not yet been determined. On the other evenings, guests can stop by for free.
Part of the great folk festival tradition
The Kerb in Wachenbuchen fits into the long tradition of folk festivals in Germany, where around 200 million people visit around 9,750 folk festivals every year. The variety of festivals ranges from large, famous events such as the Oktoberfest in Munich, which attracts around 6.4 million visitors annually, to the smaller, local festivals such as the Kerb, which are no less important in their communities. As part of these celebrations, numerous events take place in Germany that play an important role in the cultural life of the population and contribute to strengthening the sense of community.
Whether with a hearty brass band or trying out the hands-on activities on the family afternoon - the Wachenbuchener Kerb offers something for every taste. The various local clubs, including rural women, the independent gymnastics association and the fire department, bring not only their expertise but also traditional hospitality to the event, thus promoting community spirit.
So if you have the opportunity, you shouldn't miss this event. A great opportunity to see the Wachenbuchen community in full bloom and celebrate summer properly!
