Enjoy regionally: New shopping guide directly from the courtyard for Marburg!

In the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf, everything revolves around fresh, regional products. On June 23, 2025, the informative brochure "Direkt from Hof" was published, which gives a comprehensive overview of the offers of agricultural companies and craftsmanship in the region. This new publication is intended to help consumers better get to know the diversity, quality and sustainability of the regionally produced food. Loud The Marburger are listed in the brochure that offer products such as fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, sausages, eggs, cheese, honey, baked goods and dairy products.

The brochure can be downloaded online free of charge or requested in printed form at the district. The aim is to offer the domestic farmers a platform and at the same time to raise awareness of regional and seasonal nutrition. The district has a clear vision: buyers should not only receive fresh food, but also help to protect the environment and support the local economy. Because every purchase of regionally generated products strengthens the environment in which you live and at the same time promotes climate protection.

Focus on diversity and sustainability

Another plus point of the brochure is the informative part via organic and quality seals as well as Fairtrade initiatives in the district. Here, interested consumers can learn more about the standards that affect the cultivation and processing of food. How Marburg-Biedenkopf Announced, the brochure also includes practical tips on sustainable handling of food.

"Directly from the farm" also relies on educational projects, such as the "farm as a classroom", which brings agriculture to children and young people. The "Höfe-Radeln" bike tour is also mentioned to get to know the various providers in the region and be active at the same time.

Support for regional products

The project receives financial support from the LEADER regions "Burgwald-Ederbergland", "Lahn-Dill-Bergland" and "Marburger Land", with a total of 7,625 euros from the state of Hesse. The district provides the own contribution of around 5,200 euros to promote further initiatives in agriculture. The use of these funds is intended to strengthen local production in the long term, which is also in the interest of consumers.

A look at the brochure shows that the demand for regional food is high. Consumers not only benefit from superior freshness and quality, but also from the certainty that they support regional agriculture. Information on sales outlets such as farm shops, weekly markets or solidarity agriculture are also included so that interested regional products can find more easily. Like that Federal Environment Agency emphasized, many fresh products are nearby and usually easier to move into if they are marketed directly from the farm.

For more information and to order the brochure, interested parties can contact the department of rural areas and consumer protection on 06421 405-60 or by email.
