New cycle path between Heusenstamm and Gravenbruch – construction will start soon!
A lot is happening in Heusenstamm! On July 14, 2025, Hessen Mobil will start building a new cycle and pedestrian path on state road 3117 between Heusenstamm and Gravenbruch. “The project is an important step towards better cycling infrastructure,” said the responsible authorities. The construction work is divided into several sections and is expected to last until the end of April 2026, as Hessen.de reports.
The first construction phase extends from the Heusenstamm exit to the intersection with L 3001 (Dietzenbacher Straße). In the first phase, a one-way street regulation will be introduced, which will remain in place until the beginning of September. Drivers can still drive from Heusenstamm to Gravenbruch, but the diversion is in the opposite direction via Dietzenbacher Straße and Hohebergstraße. This measure is described in detail by [Heusenstamm.de].
Extensive measures for safe cycling
The project not only includes the construction of a new cycle and pedestrian path, but also the creation of two new bus stops and a fire station access to Gravenbruch. The total costs for the construction project amount to around 2.25 million euros, which are provided by the state of Hesse.
The pedestrian and cycle paths are intended to help increase safety on the streets and promote cycling. During the construction period, road users can drive from Heusenstamm to Neu-Isenburg, Offenbach and Dietzenbach. However, entry into these cities from the Wildhof intersection will not be possible during the first construction phase. A diversion via the L 3001 and Hohebergstrasse will be set up.
A step into the future of mobility
The initiative to build these cycle paths is part of a larger plan to improve the cycling infrastructure in Hesse. Since 2021, the projects have been selected based on an “urgent assessment of cycle paths”. This makes it possible to identify relevant cycle path projects on state and federal roads. Transport Minister Al-Wazir emphasizes the importance of these transport projects: “We are not just building paths, but also creating connections that sustainably improve the mobility of our citizens.”
According to Wirtschaft.hessen.de, the state of Hesse will provide over 17 million euros for cycle paths on state roads in 2024, which means a significant increase in funding compared to previous years. This ensures that cycle paths are designed to be safe and user-friendly, especially in areas with high traffic volumes.
The local population can look forward to the upcoming work, which will not only increase safety but also significantly promote cycling in the region. Further information on the next construction phases and necessary diversions will be announced in future reports from Hessen Mobil.
