Bad Nauheim Volunteer Center: Schmidt-Schwabe hands over chairmanship with honor!
A celebration of recognition and thanks recently took place at the Bad Nauheim Volunteer Center (FWZ), which proudly looks back on 20 years of volunteer work. The celebrations in the drinking spa attracted numerous guests, including Mayor Klaus Kreß and City Councilor Oliver von Massow. The two politicians praised the outstanding achievements of Ingrid Schmidt-Schwabe, who is handing over the helm after more than 15 years as chairwoman. For this she received the Medal of Merit from the city of Bad Nauheim and found moving words of thanks for her team and companions.
The importance of the FWZ for urban society was particularly emphasized that evening. Schmidt-Schwabe made a valuable contribution as a coordinator between clubs and volunteers. “The volunteer center has developed into an important contact point and is valued by the entire community,” said Kreß in his words of thanks. Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of certificates to 14 new senior and dementia companions, who can look forward to their upcoming involvement in the community. The graduates are: Emel Dogan, Irom Estifanos, Ilona Haas, Anke Hieke, Emina Palamar, Wolfgang Rautensperger, Valentyna Rautensperger, Sonja Sasa, Angelika Straubinger, Silke Stroh and Helga Weiler, who are now preparing for new paths in volunteer work. One graduate, Dabrila Eckhardt, was not present at the event.
A new chapter with Hedwig Rohde
In order to ensure continued existence and further development, the committed Hedwig Rohde is expected to succeed Schmidt-Schwabe on the board. She will be able to build on the valuable experiences and successes of the past few years. The training of new senior and dementia companions, which has been offered since 2008, shows how important it is to integrate qualified volunteers into the social sector. A strong team is the cornerstone of successfully supporting people who need help.
Volunteering: A pillar of society
Volunteering is often described as a form of civic responsibility that is unpaid and oriented towards the common good. Such initiatives are crucial for social cohesion in society. As deutsches-ehrenamt.de notes, the motivation for volunteering can be diverse - be it the inner need to help others, religious beliefs or personal experiences. The perspectives are broad: from youth welfare and neighborhood help to environmental or refugee work. There are many ways to become active and support your fellow human beings.
