Hessentag in Bad Vilbel: A festival of records and musical highlights!
Bad Vilbel is currently celebrating Hessentag 2025, a colorful festival that will provide action and a good mood for over two weeks. With around 950,000 visitors, the event far exceeded expectations. The summer weather contributed to the high number of visitors, although temperatures climbed up to 37 degrees in many places. The German Weather Service warned of extreme heat on Sunday, but that didn't stop people from celebrating. The city is a hotspot for culture and hands-on activities and thus attracts an enthusiastic audience.
On the penultimate day, June 21st, Bad Vilbel experienced an unforgettable parade attended by tens of thousands of onlookers. Prime Minister Boris Rhein and his cabinet looked at the hustle and bustle. The motto of the parade was “We bring Hesse onto the stage” and presented a variety of motif floats as well as foot and music groups. The Hessentag couple 2025, Matthias Kallmeyer and Ena Kaufmann, were also thrilled by the peaceful atmosphere and the colorful hustle and bustle.
A diverse supporting program
The festival area offers a variety of attractions: from an impressive Ferris wheel to various stages to numerous food stalls and a colorful supporting program. Numerous artists such as Ski Aggu, Howard Carpendale, Nina Chuba, Judas Priest, Roy Bianco & Die Abbrunzati Boys, Deichkind and Moses Pelham performed in the Stadtwerke Arena. The final concert on Sunday evening promises another highlight with Moses Pelham and special guest Vega.
Particularly popular locations are the tents in the castle park and the special exhibition “Nature on the Trail” on the “Zu Obernholz” meadow. Here visitors can admire the Bundeswehr equipment and the Tornado fighter plane. Safety isn't neglected either: the city has taken several measures to ensure the safety of visitors, including road closures and additional emergency services on site.
Balance sheet and outlook
Not only the city and the visitors, but also the police and emergency services, who report an overall quiet event, draw a positive conclusion. There were few advertisements and the city organized exciting solutions such as free sunscreen stations and shaded areas to make it easier to deal with the heat. The conclusion of Prime Minister Rhine and Mayor Sebastian Wysocki could hardly be better: The 62nd Hessentag was a complete success.
Bad Vilbel will hand over the Hessentag flag to Fulda, which will host this great festival next year. The city has not only demonstrated its role as a cultural center, but has also taken a significant step towards strengthening Hessian identity.
The Hessentag, which took place from June 13th to 22nd, 2025 in the picturesque Bad Vilbel, once again showed how diverse and lively the state of Hesse is. Mark the next date in your calendar now: When Fulda opens the next chapter in 2026, we are sure that the Hessentag tradition will continue triumphantly.
So Bad Vilbel did it right! See you next time!
