With heart and pen: Langgönserin helps children understand feelings!
In a world where feelings often remain silent and isolated Annabell Houses Something very special was created from Langgöns. Her participatory book “Between Stomach, Heart and Head”, which was published in April 2025, is aimed at children from preschool age. It offers an unconventional way to deal with and understand emotions.
The book encourages the youngest to express their emotions such as sadness, love or anger through painting, doodling and writing. “In child-friendly language, it explains in a comprehensible way how feelings can be expressed without it becoming didactic,” says Häuser. Each child can tick what physical and emotional reactions they have to certain feelings. “It is important to give space to feelings and to make the connection between reactions and sensations,” she emphasizes.
A personal impulse
The impetus for this heartwarming project came from a book about dream travel that Häuser read with her son. As a single mother, she draws from her own experience. In her past, she has worked as a health and nursing worker, including in psychiatry, and shows how valuable emotional intelligence is in children. “The upbringing of my son and the mindfulness group at a primary school have greatly influenced my view of the topic,” she explains.
She also completed an online course to gain the necessary knowledge and successfully publish her book. Although the marketing of her work is currently on hold, she has already drawn attention to herself via a Facebook group.
Mindfulness for children
At the heart of Häuser’s work is the concept of mindfulness, as she herself understands and practices it. It means being present in the moment and accepting thoughts and feelings without judgment. An approach that is particularly important in today's fast-moving times. In recent years, the practice of mindfulness, initiated by personalities such as Jon Kabat-Zinn, has also become established in schools and other areas. The positive effect is proven by numerous studies documenting the physical and mental health benefits of these methods ( Greater Good Science Center ).
It's no secret that a good hand is essential for the emotional education of children. Annabell Häuser not only wants to impart knowledge, but also wants to reach the hearts of her readers. “The book isn’t intended to help you get rich, but my heart is in it,” she explains with fire in her voice.
Houses, who works part-time in a grocery store and is a nature and mindfulness trainer, shows that you can achieve great things even with little time. “There’s something there!” many say, and this book is certainly a step in the right direction for our children.
