Dorheim celebrates 1250 years: historical chronicle and festivities!
On June 22, 2025 the time has finally come: Dorheim, the oldest district of Friedberg, is celebrating its 1250th anniversary with a big festival. The celebrations will take place from June 27th to 29th, 2025 and promise to be a colorful event for young and old. Organized by a dedicated festival committee, led by Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rack, the local mayor and historian, the program will include a parade, musical performances and an exciting journey through time through Dorheim's history. Preparations are in full swing, as Wetterau.news reports.
The central figure in these celebrations will be Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rack, who is not only the chairman of the festival committee, but will also give a lecture on “1250 Years of Dorheim” in the Klosterbau library center. In his lecture on February 20th, he will shed light on the historical milestones from the first documented mention, which dates back to the year 775 and is thanks to Count Cancor's daughters, Rechilt and Eufemia, to the current preparations for the festival. The Frankfurter Rundschau particularly emphasizes that this anniversary not only celebrates the long history, but also the liveliness and commitment of today's citizens of Dorheim.
Festive highlights
The celebrations in Dorheim promise great moments. A planned pageant will feature over 50 participating farms and citizens will be invited to share their stories and traditions. A charity game with the traditional Eintracht Frankfurt team will also be part of the program. The focus is on the village clubs, which is intended to strengthen the sense of community. A diverse selection of music and cultural programs are offered to guests to make the celebrations lively and unforgettable.
Another exciting aspect is the publication of the new local chronicle “Dorheim 775-2025”, written by Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rack was created. This chronicle consists of 360 pages and not only reports on the last 25 years, but also takes readers through the entire history of the village. Historical events such as the introduction of the Reformation in 1550, the first mention of a school teacher in 1587 and much more are documented there. It is precisely the humorous anecdotes, such as the aforementioned “Dorheim Staircase Joke”, that demonstrate the charm of this work, which will be available for a price of 20 euros, for example in the Bindernagel bookstore branch in Friedberg, or during the anniversary in Dorheim itself FNP reports.
A look back and forward
The event has emerged as a significant moment that not only looks back on history, but also sets the course for the future. Dorheim residents are invited to actively participate and contribute their memories and stories, which shows that community and cohesion are very important here. The anniversary will be underlined again with the words of the mayor, Kjetil Dahlhaus, in a podcast that will also be published on the official website.
