Wiesbaden celebrates the 25 meter high Leon” Christmas tree!
A brilliant spectacle is about to take place: Today, Wiesbaden not only shines with lights, but also celebrates the opening of the Christmas market. The hopeful name of this year's Christmas tree is "Leon", which has just been named the largest ornament on Schlossplatz next to the New Town Hall. A proud 25 meter high Norway spruce adorns the city and is decorated with 30,000 sparkling LED lights and 52 golden ribbons.
The tree owes its life to a family from Wallmünster who decided not to cut down their stately tree. Stefan Fuidl, the responsible tree officer, took over the organization of the necessary transport, which required true teamwork: two cranes, 25 helping hands and numerous permits were necessary to bring the tree safely to the Hesse state capital. The transport itself was a special transport that brought the splendor of “Leon” to Wiesbaden at the end of the day.
Sustainability and fascination
A special aspect of this Christmas tree is its sustainable use: After the celebrations, “Leon” will serve as a heat source in the biomass power plant after January 7th. This means that the festive red spruce not only lasts for a limited time, but also makes an environmentally friendly contribution to the region.
The Christmas magic in Wiesbaden around the Schlossplatz is complemented by the shooting star market, which opens its doors on November 25th. Here, young and old can look forward to the numerous stalls and festive atmosphere.
Winter sports and holiday paradise
While the people of Wiesbaden admire the festively decorated tree at home, many cross-country skiing and winter sports enthusiasts are drawn to the cold mountains. A recommended place to stay is the Marriott's Mountain Valley Lodge at Breckenridge, a top address for those looking for relaxation, located 16 km from the historic park in Frisco and 42 km from Mount Evans. Here, holidaymakers can look forward to free bikes, an outdoor pool, hot tub and 24-hour reception.
The lodge also offers rooms with a comfortable seating area, flat-screen TV, a well-equipped kitchen and a private bathroom. For couples there is a rating of 9.7 for the location - the stars are high!
This makes winter a time of enjoyment both in Wiesbaden and in the mountains. The anticipation of festive experiences and sporting adventures is already palpable.
