A rare find in the oldest restaurant Aurichs: Shakshuka enthusiastic!

A visit to the restaurant "Zur Börse" in Aurich, Lower Saxony, not only produced delicacies, but also put a special find into the spotlight. The reporter of the Ostsee-Zeitung (OZ) was together with a colleague in this charming restaurant on Burgstrasse, which is very popular in the busy pedestrian zone in good weather. The Shakshuka court in particular stands out on the menu, an oriental delicacy that enjoys rare presence in German restaurants.

With a price category of 9.50 euros for the Shakshuka and 4.50 euros for the homemade ginger-limette lemonade, the colleague's colleague decided to do this combination. The verdict was extremely positive: the Shakshuka held the anticipation of the colleague and inspired her noticeably. The reporter, who is usually picky with tomato sauces, was also taken with the court. The strong flavors convinced them and the court presented itself as a true highlight of the menu.

Women's business in the restaurant

The reporters also did not miss the grilled goat cheese with figs, thyme honey and baguette. This was by no means generous in terms of portioning, but it harmonized perfectly with the sweet figs and the honey. The price for the overall package made of goat cheese and a cherry spritzer added up to 16.50 euros. In addition to the great dishes, the homemade lemonade stood out as a special highlight, a refreshing drink that enjoys a clear advantage in the warm season.

The experiences of the reporters suggest that German cuisine, which already offers impressive variety of regional and national dishes, can be pleasantly expanded with such extraordinary dishes as the Shakshuka. As is well known, German cuisine is rich in bread and baked goods, with the pretzel considered the best-known bread specialty. Ingredients such as sausage and cheese also play a central role in German eating culture, which is reflected in the dishes of the restaurants, which are characterized by their diversity and quality.

An unexpected find

But exciting things didn't just happen on the reporters' plates: divers made a remarkable find in the Salzgitter bathing lake. They came across a completely preserved tusk of a woolly mammoth, estimated to be 10,000 to 110,000 years old. A spectacular piece of history that underlines how much unknown lies still hidden before our eyes.

The experiences in the “Zur Börse” and the extraordinary finds in the region prove: there is always something to discover in Aurich, be it a delicious dish or a significant relic from the past. So a visit is worth it twice!
