Family bike day in Aurich: Green and active for all generations!

Next Sunday, June 22nd, it will be “On your wheels, set, go!” The 3rd Family Bicycle Day in Aurich will take place in the city center from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and aims to promote sustainable mobility and a more environmentally friendly city. This colorful event is organized by Frank Patschke, the city's bicycle representative, Heidrun Weber from GF-Aurich, and Peter Specken, a committed council member. They are supported by numerous partners such as the ADFC, the “Playground” skate hall, the Schokofahrt team and the city of Aurich itself, as nwzonline reports.

What can visitors expect? A highlight will be the large bicycle parade, which starts promptly at 2 p.m. on the market square. The route leads through one of the most charming corners of Aurich and will take about an hour. All ages are welcome – from grandma and grandpa to little speed riders. The return to the market square is planned at around 3 p.m. and the children can take part in various activities immediately afterwards.

A colorful program for the whole family

A diverse program will await participants at the market square. Among other things, clubs, hobbyists and mobility initiatives can present themselves, and the children can look forward to a cycling course. Not only is skill required here, but there is also the opportunity to learn something about how to handle bicycles safely.The “Mobility” initiative in schools not only conveys knowledge but also a sense of responsibility on this important topic.Traffic education lessons are important in order to sensitize students to the challenges of road traffic and to enable them to critically examine mobility issues, as umwelt-im-lehren takes up.

Another exciting element of the program is the bike quiz, where participants can test their knowledge. There will also be ramps available in the inline skate hall for children, young people and adults. Here you can also try your hand at skating as an adult! The free high-visibility vests, which are distributed by the city of Aurich while stocks last, are definitely worth mentioning.

Traffic measures and open spaces for picnickers

Parts of Lilienstrasse and Marktstrasse must be closed for the event, creating a protected space for cyclists and pedestrians. Organizers encourage visitors to bring their picnic blankets and socialize over a leisurely meal. After all, this is not only a celebration for technology enthusiasts and bike lovers, but also a great opportunity to come together as a community.
