Finally the time has come! Braunschweig is looking forward to the return of the traditional Christmas market, which will take place again this year after a two-year break. From November 26th to December 29th, 2025, the city around St. Blasii Cathedral and German Unity Square will be transformed into a Christmas fairy tale with around 140 festively decorated stands. The first mulled wine will be served on opening day, November 26th, from 5:45 p.m. - and until 9:00 p.m.
The opening hours of the Christmas market invite you to enjoy the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle: Monday to Saturday it is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Sundays and public holidays from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. On December 29th, this festive impression ends at 8:00 p.m., and the market remains closed at Christmas, on December 24th and 25th.
A gift for every budget
Would you also like to try something delicious? To round off the culinary experience at the Christmas market, a wide range of regional specialties and handicrafts are on offer. From freshly baked bread to warming soups: visitors can look forward to many delicacies. Some of the stalls, which have been added in recent years, offer exciting vegetarian and vegan options, including the popular Blue and Yellow Christmas with a delicious pear and parsnip soup. For those with a sweet tooth, there are freshly baked cinnamon rolls and Belgian chocolates, while meat lovers can look forward to specialties from Austria and South Tyrol.
