Braunschweig loses popular restaurant: La Cosa closes after 18 years!
The gastronomy in Braunschweig is experiencing an emotional farewell: The popular restaurant “La Cosa”, known for its special moments, is closing its doors after almost 18 years. Owner Laura Lepizzera has decided to break new ground and is leaving the restaurant business, which means a big change for her. At 41, she believes now is the right time for a change of perspective. “Gastronomy demands a lot of my life and I don’t want that anymore,” she explains.
In the last few days before the closure, many guests and the team shed tears while Lepizzera looked back on the many beautiful memories. Emotional moments and friendships that have grown over the years remain fond memories, not least thanks to the prominent guests such as Thomas Gottschalk and Gerhard Schröder, who were regular guests at “La Cosa”.
The three-person team, including their mother Maria Santiago, also left the restaurant to say goodbye. While Maria begins her well-deserved retirement, the chef plans to look outside of the restaurant industry. “It was a wonderful time, but now it’s time to take on new challenges,” says Lepizzera.
However, the castle passage will not be in silence for long. A successor for the restaurant has been determined and planning for a renovation is already in full swing. “It starts in November, and from December a new concept in an Asian direction will be implemented here,” reveals Lepizzera with a smile.
A new beginning
The coming change in the castle passage brings a breath of fresh air. With a focus on Asian cuisine, the successor will hopefully set new gastronomic accents. The team around Laura Lepizzera has put a lot of passion into the restaurant over the years, and the anticipation of changes is palpable. “We are leaving the “La Cosa” era behind us, but we are looking to the future with a positive outlook,” says Lepizzera, who wants to concentrate on her own new path in life.
The castle passage will remain a popular destination for lovers of good cuisine in the future, and the last few days in “La Cosa” show how strong the emotional connection to a restaurant can be. The memories of unforgettable evenings and beautiful moments will live on in the city. With the imminent renovation and a new concept, a further step will be taken in the gastronomic diversity of the Schlosspassage.
For anyone interested, there will be more information about the renovation work and the new gastronomic concept in the coming weeks. “We’re looking forward to what’s to come,” concludes Lepizzera, and the audience can be excited.
As you can see, there is something going on in Braunschweig - and it will be exciting to see how the new gastronomic developments will unfold.
