The background to the bankruptcy

The current bankruptcy is part of a worrying trend in the German fashion industry, which is accompanied by bankruptcies. Loud daily news Large chains such as Galeria and Esprit as well as Gerry Weber struggled with the difficult market situation. The causes are diverse: The energy crisis, rising rental prices and falling purchasing power have caused consumers to act more cautiously. Many people are holding back on their spending, which is causing additional problems for stationary retail.

Victrix's new concept envisages Gerry Weber being offered in the future through trading partners who also sell other brands. The company from Mataró near Barcelona wants to change production processes in order to continue the brand, even if the shops in Germany remain closed. It has not yet been disclosed how much Victrix paid to acquire the brand; the financial details remain secret.

The future of the fashion industry

Despite court rulings that have been positive for some fashion chains, the industry as a whole appears to be in trouble. Germans' purchasing mood remains subdued, even if some companies are able to develop positively in terms of sales. The exact number of closures and bankruptcies will continue to be monitored in the coming months, while online textile retailers have to be happy about the steadily decreasing stationary competition.
