With 20 euros at the Braunschweig Christmas market: is that possible?

When December comes knocking in Braunschweig, the Christmas market comes alive with hustle and bustle. Visitors can indulge in our charming market squares right in the city center. But how does the budget fare in the run-up to Christmas? Two tests show how much treat you get for your money and whether you can really immerse yourself in the festive spirit.

She wanted to try a little bit of everything: a warm main course, something sweet, a drink and a dessert. First she decided on a hearty hand bread with mushrooms and cheese, which was available for 7 euros. She then enjoyed 100 grams of roasted almonds for 4 euros and a cup of mulled wine, which also cost 4 euros plus a 3 euro deposit (the deposit will be returned). The finale was a delicious crepe with applesauce and cinnamon and sugar for 5 euros. So she filled the entire budget and the conclusion was clear: a visit to the Christmas market is possible for 20 euros, but requires compromises when it comes to the choice of food. A little more leeway

But what happens if you increase the budget to 25 euros? Another test showed that you can also enjoy strolling through the Christmas market with a slightly more generous approach. The focus here was on spending a pleasant evening and perhaps enjoying one or two extra things. During this exploration, the tester first landed at the stand for traditional apple mulled wine, which has been in Braunschweig for over 20 years and has made a name for itself for 4 euros, plus 2 euros deposit. There were also delicious cheese spaetzle with chopped truffle almonds and fresh parsley available for 7 euros. If you wanted something heartier, you could add onion jam or creamed mushrooms for 1 euro each.

At 4 euros for a hot chocolate with cream at the little castle and a Kaminstriezel, which cost 7 euros, the offer was more than tempting. After a two-hour shopping trip, we even had 3 euros left over - an additional plus for anyone who wants to be conscious of their budget. The conclusion: With 25 euros you can get into the festive mood perfectly, including hot drinks and sweet treats. RND has revealed these delights.

The Braunschweig Christmas market season has really picked up speed and is very popular with visitors. Whether you have 20 or 25 euros – there is something here for everyone who wants to take time for the festive atmosphere. Regardless of whether you choose the warmer dishes or the sweet classics, the Christmas market truly lets the splendor of the pre-Christmas season shine.
