Play without limits: Children's fire brigades show off their skills in Jarnsen!
On June 14, 2025, the children's fire brigade's exciting “Game without Borders” took place in Jarnsen, in the Celle district. With bright sunshine and good spirits, it was an event that brought together fire service enthusiasts and young talents. A total of 31 teams from the entire Celle district took part, competing against each other in groups of 5 or 6. The day started at 10 a.m. and the children took part in a total of 12 different stations, covering firefighting technology as well as skills and general knowledge. The tasks ranged from classic fire brigade games to creative challenges. Among other things, the little firefighters had to balance a ball on a stretcher through a course or recognize and correctly assign traffic signs. Even the ability to lie on their side while sleeping was part of the knowledge that the children had to demonstrate.
The event was organized and supervised by Andrea Suhr, head of the “Children’s Fire Department” department. The commitment and energy that went into the planning was unmistakable. After exciting hours full of action and team spirit, the children were rewarded with an award ceremony at around 2 p.m. All participants received a commemorative medal, while the ten best groups were also able to take home small trophies.
The winners and their achievements
This year the challenge cup went to the “Lütt Ja-Lu-Bu 4” from Jarnsen, who successfully defended their title. The “Feuermäuse 2” from Herrmannsburg took second place, while the “Feuersalamander” from Poitzen took a great third place. The results at a glance:
| Place | team |
|---|---|
| 1. | Lütt Ja-Lu-Bu 4 (Jarnsen) |
| 2. | Fire Mice 2 (Herrmannsburg) |
| 3. | Fire salamander (Poitzen) |
The children's joy and satisfaction were also noticeable after the award ceremony. It was a day that not only promoted firefighting knowledge, but also teamwork and a sense of community among the young participants.
A look into history
The “Game without Borders” has gained popularity in recent years. This event is an important part of the regional fire brigade culture and serves not only for training, but also for promoting a sense of community and learning through play. The event celebrated its premiere in 2016 with only 10 children's fire brigades taking part, while this year the number of groups has increased to an impressive 31. The importance of early, high-quality leadership training for the children's groups became clear, as is also emphasized in the Youth Fire Department.
After the competitions were over, the children were able to relax with various leisure activities, such as creating buttons or playing on the playground. The parents and spectators, consisting of family and friends, created a supportive atmosphere that made the day an unforgettable experience.
In summary, it can be said that the “Game without Limits” is not just a competition, but an event that playfully teaches young firefighter candidates values such as team spirit and a sense of responsibility.
