TuS Celle 92 starts the exciting DTTB Cup on August 24th!
On Sunday, August 24th, 2025, the sports hall at the Pestalozzi School in Celle is offering an exciting table tennis event that no fan of the fast rallies should miss. The German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) has entrusted the preliminary round of the cup in Group 1 to TuS Celle 92 and thus created a perfect setting for high-class table tennis. A total of four teams compete in this first round: in addition to the host TuS Celle 92, SV Union Velbert II, TTC indeland Jülich and Oldenburger TB compete against each other.
The matches start at 10 a.m., followed by further rounds of play at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Everyone in the group will play against everyone else, meaning a total of six exciting encounters are on the program. Unlike regular leagues, there is no draw - a win gives the winner a whopping three points, and doubles could potentially be the deciding factor if the singles are tied 2-2 after four games.
In search of form and momentum
For the TuS Celle 92 team, this preliminary round is not only a test under competitive conditions, but also an opportunity to make a name for themselves early in the season. The team that celebrated runner-up status in the 3rd Bundesliga last season must keep an eye on staying in the league this season. The departures of Lennart and Jannik are painful, but the signing of Deniz Aydin gives reason to hope for a good performance. A first groundbreaking test is also on the agenda against SV Union Salzgitter, followed by an away game against TSV Schwarzenbek.
Throughout the entire cup competition, the table tennis teams from the 2nd and 3rd Bundesliga will compete in four parallel groups. The teams from the highest league, the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), only enter the action in the round of 16. The DTTB Cup is therefore a welcome opportunity for the lower-class teams to prove themselves and gain valuable experience. This also includes, for example, the duels between TuS Celle 92 and its opponents such as the TTC indeland Jülich and Oldenburger TB.
Digital developments in table tennis
The Cup will also unveil a new digital innovation for match coverage. The DTTB has a platform called click-TT was launched, which includes functions such as the digital game report nuScore. This intuitive software allows organizers and spectators to follow matches in real time while simplifying scoring. What is particularly practical is that the platform can be used both online and offline, so that gaming operations run smoothly even when reception conditions are less than ideal.
If we look at the games on August 24, 2025, it will only be interesting to see how the group of four will perform. The scheduling of the matches promises pure excitement and athleticism, and we can only hope that the home team of TuS Celle 92 can inspire the audience.
The first points for the new season will not only have an impact on the team's balance sheet, but also on how they can assert themselves in the upcoming games against Salzgitter and Schwarzenbek. Et voilà, the 2025 table tennis season is in full swing!
