Traffic accidents and break-ins: Vechta police are asking for information!

There has been a lot of action in Vechta and Lohne in the last few days - and not just on the streets. Police have recorded several incidents affecting both crime and road safety.

On August 15, 2025, a car break-in was reported in a parking lot in the Füchteler Forest. During a brief period between 10:20 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., an unknown perpetrator broke a side window of a parked car and stole a handbag. This was later used to make several payments using stolen debit cards. The police are calling on possible witnesses to report information on 04441/9430 in order to advance the case. There was also a second burglary in Vechta on the same day, in which a side window was also broken between 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. This time sports bags were stolen.

Traffic accidents in focus

Another incident occurred on August 15th in Lohne, where a 16-year-old cyclist was slightly injured. At 3:38 p.m., a black VW Golf cut the curve, causing the cyclist to fall. The driver of the car left the serious accident behind and fled. Here too, the police are asking for information on 04442-808460.

But that wasn't all: At 2:55 p.m., a 30-year-old man was caught driving without a license on Ladestrasse and Klapp Hakenstrasse in Lohne. Criminal proceedings were initiated against him and the owner of the vehicle.

Looking for witnesses

This series of traffic accidents is rounded off by another incident in Vechta on August 15th. At 3:10 p.m. there was a collision between a 37-year-old car driver and an unknown e-scooter driver, who also simply fled the scene. The police are also asking witnesses to come forward.

Overall, the incidents of the last few days are a clear indication that both crime and road safety in our region need to be monitored more closely. The police have launched comprehensive investigations into all cases and would be pleased to receive any help from the public.
