Things will soon get busy again in Syke, as the well-known opera singerOliver Zwargreturns to his homeland! OnNovember 21sthe presents his eagerly awaited song recital “Men and Myths” in the hall of the Kreissparkasse. A concert not to be missed!
Oliver Zwarg, 1971 inBergisch-Gladbachborn, moved with his family when he was just one year oldBarriers. He spent his childhood there and graduated from high school in Syke. Before that, he made his first musical attempts in the Barrier Church. His elementary school teacher,Rolf Bössow, recognized Zwarg's talent and motivated him to pursue his love of singing and take his first steps.
A musical path
The young Zwarg played the piano with great dedication for many yearsDistrict music school in Sykeand was an active member of the choir. There were challenges, however, as his passion for water polo conflicted with choir practice. To motivate him, his mother contacted himChurch choirwhich ultimately led to Zwarg joining in too. Back then, he cleverly financed his singing lessons through piano lessons.
After graduating from high school, Zwarg studied history and music to become a teacherBremen. At the same time, he continued to sing in churches and gained his first stage experience. In 1994 or 1995 he made his debut asFigaro. However, after the first state examination, Zwarg decided to follow his passion for music and switched to postgraduate studiesStuttgart. In 1999 he graduated as a qualified opera singer.
Local roots
The connection to Syke always remained alive. His father lived in Barrien until a year ago, and Zwarg regularly visited him in the retirement home, where he also met old acquaintances from his water polo days. These deep roots make his upcoming concert in Syke particularly significant and emotional.
Zwarg has put together an exciting program for his song recital. The listeners can relaxLoewe ballads,Schubert songsas well as the “Songs of Travel" fromRalph Vaughan Williamsbe happy. He is accompanied by the talented pianistJoseph Breinl.
