Symbol from Bremen rocks the band contest - off to the Weyher Festival!
On Friday evening, October 17th, 2025, an exciting band contest took place in the TRAFO youth center in Kirchweyhe, which thrilled the audience and provided a special prize for the winning band Sinnbild from Bremen. The band has successfully qualified for the Weyher Aufmucken festival against the right, which will take place on November 8th from 4 p.m. in the multi-purpose hall next to the town hall. The competition was extremely popular and participants demonstrated that the local music scene is vibrant and diverse. According to Weser-Kurier, four bands took part in the contest, three of which performed, while one band was due to a violation of the Drummers had to cancel.
The band Sinnbild, which combines crossover rap with punk, was able to convince the jury and the audience the most. The jury consisted of five members of the festival's organizing team, and the decision on the winner was made by both them and the audience. Sinnbild will be on stage at the festival alongside other notable acts such as Montreal, Focus, Nikra, Give me Rain, Emma Rose and The Toten Crackhuren im Trunk.
Festival against the right
The Aufmucken festival has been a tradition since 2001, which was interrupted by the corona pandemic. The Korrekte Tone association, which organizes the festival, has been campaigning against right-wing radical tendencies for years. Last year, around 700 visitors came to the event, which was characterized by the call to be loud and take a clear stance against right-wing extremist trends. At the award ceremony, Till Wörner from the youth facility emphasized the fun that the bands and the audience had during the competition, which is a sign that music acts as a unifying force even in difficult times.
The participants in this year's festival are extremely diverse: Montreal, known from Hamburg, is very popular and is appearing for the third time. The band The Toten Crackhuren im Trunk also brings valuable experience from the fusion festival, while Focus from Riesa wants to get the crowd celebrating with their punk rock music. Emma Rose, known for quieter tones, and Nikra, who stand for diversity and a unique movement, round off the program. Tickets for the festival are already available for pre-sale at www.aufmucken.com.
The importance of music against the right
The relevance of music events that take a stand against right-wing extremism should not be underestimated. According to Verfassungsschutz, music and music events are among the central activities of the right-wing extremist scene. They not only serve to create identity, but also to recruit young people. There are a number of large right-wing extremist events that use music as a vehicle to spread their ideologies, and that is an important reason why festivals like the Weyher Aufmucken Festival are so important. It calls on people to take an active position against these currents and to show a strong sign of solidarity.
At a time when social challenges are increasing, it is important to raise your voice and advocate for respectful coexistence. Music can play a crucial role in this and is a call for many to get involved and defend themselves against intolerance and discrimination.
