On June 16, 2025, the B juniors of TuS Sudweyhe traveled 240 kilometers to Göttingen for an important away game in the Lower Saxony League, but their expectations were bitterly disappointed. With a 1:6 defeat against 1. SC Göttingen 05, the players under coach Emrullah Kizildag returned home, which confirmed the already sealed fate of relegation this season. Weser courier reports that the TuS coach praised his team for the good first half, but they fell behind due to defensive mistakes.
In the first half, Sudweyhe had several chances to take the lead. Ismaila Ceesay was denied early by the Göttingen goalkeeper Tim Krause (4th minute), and Deniz Kizildag was also unable to achieve success with a pass to Seyed Abdulfazal Amiri because a Göttingen player intervened (25th minute). Instead, Göttingen took the lead through a controversial goal by Bastian Weidele (35th minute), and Mahdi Ali Hassan also shot just wide of the goal in the 40th minute.
Long-term consequences of the first season in the Lower Saxony League
The second half brought bitter disappointment for Sudweyhe. Göttingen increased with two standard goals that decided the game: Phil Rittmeier headed after a corner to make it 2-0 (43rd minute), and Max Schröder added it after a free kick to make it 3-0 (52nd minute). Ben Kruse still had the opportunity to connect, but Krause failed again (61st minute). This was followed by goals from Towa Wolff (65th minute) and Mika Lehmann (68th minute), before Ceesay was able to reduce the score to 1:5 in the 73rd minute. Tim Korte set the final point with 6:1 (80th minute).
The challenging season in the Lower Saxony League follows a remarkable rise. In the previous 2023/24 season, TuS Sudweyhe's B youth celebrated exceptional success by winning both the state league championship and the district cup. This represented a historic moment in the club's history, as the B youth team was promoted to the Lower Saxony League for the first time District newspaper explained. Coach Emrullah Kizildag, who took over as coach in November, and his son Deniz Hakan Kizildag were among the key people in this success.
Unique success and challenges
The last season remains unforgettable for the boys. Deniz Hakan Kizildag, deputy captain, describes them as “unique”. Particularly memorable is the District Cup, which Sudweyhe won 2-1 in the final against JFV Hameln when Mahdi Ali Hassan equalized in the last minute. This victory was celebrated in letter with 75 loyal fans in the Leinestadion.
All of these ups and downs show how important it is to trust your own talents even in difficult times. Kizildag plans to continue to rely on young players from the region in the Lower Saxony League. After all, the road to success is often rocky, but TuS Sudweyhe has proven in the past that it can overcome such challenges with sufficient will and good team spirit.
