New recycling center in Lingen: More space for your waste!

In Lingen there will be “space there!” called: A new recycling center was opened on Hessenweg, which will ensure more convenience during deliveries in the future. This innovation was ceremoniously inaugurated by District Administrator Marc-André Burgdorf and Heinz Bökers, the operations manager of the waste management company (AWB). Lingen thus complements its already strong network of a total of 47 recycling centers in the Emsland district. The investment of around 250,000 euros in the new farm promises to significantly reduce the burden on the heavily frequented delivery points in the region.

The new recycling center at Hessenweg 59 b already impresses with a storage area of around 2,100 m², which is an increase compared to the previously operated location - only 1,600 m² was offered. The old recycling center also had to close its doors in 2021, so this new location is very welcome. Here, residents can not only deliver scrap metal, paper, white and stained glass, but also small amounts of building rubble and small electrical appliances. What is also particularly important is the option for the professional disposal of used cooking fats and vegetable oils, which has been available since September 2023.

Relief for busy yards

The opening of the new yard is linked to an important goal: the overloaded recycling centers on Brümmers Weg and Schwarzen Weg in Lingen should finally be relieved. These two locations record an impressive 35,900 and 47,648 deliveries annually. The new offer on Hessenweg will therefore be a valuable alternative for citizens.

The opening times of the new recycling center are clearly regulated: In the winter, from November 1st to February 28th, deliveries can be made every Friday between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. From March 1st there will also be the option to come by on Wednesdays during opening hours. This is particularly practical given the summer opening hours: Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Waste management in Emsland

The Emsland district remains committed to the efficient disposal of waste from private households. In addition to the recycling centers, the waste management company offers extensive options for handing in waste

  • Grünabfällen
  • Papier
  • Behälterglas
  • Altmetall
  • Bauschutt (bis ein Kubikmeter)
  • Kunststoffen
  • Elektrokleingeräten

. Larger quantities of construction waste can be disposed of at the central landfills. All information about opening times and processes can be found on the district's waste management company website.

The introduction of the new recycling center on Hessenweg shows once again that there is a good knack for innovative solutions in waste management. Lingen therefore not only remains environmentally conscious, but also optimally positioned to cover citizens' expenses.
