Positive police record: Lingen celebrates safely and relaxed!
The Emsland/County of Bentheim police station looks back on a successful first day of the city's anniversary in Lingen. From the morning onwards, the emergency services were active in the city center area to ensure security and order. The mobile guard station on Sturmstrasse, which served as a contact point for the population and coordinated the emergency services, was particularly helpful. Loud Waslosin, who reported on the event, employees were able to welcome up to 12,500 guests in the city center area.
The main events took place on the market square and on Wall Süd. In addition, the Old Horse Market was used as an alternative area where the events from the market square could be followed via video transmission. To ensure safety, the access areas to the event areas were temporarily regulated, and arrival and departure traffic was largely trouble-free. Many visitors decided to use local public transport while the federal police were present at Lingen train station.
Positive feedback and relaxed atmosphere
From a police perspective, the evening was extremely quiet. Most guests were considerate and relaxed, which is not least due to the extensive security measures. In the context of major events, security is a basic need for everyone involved, as well Lower Saxony Police emphasized. It is the responsibility of the police, politics, business, media and the population to create a safe environment.
Another important element is the specialist coordination of police prevention, which is carried out by a special team in Lingen. The cooperation between the various police commissioners ensures that preventive measures are effectively implemented throughout the Emsland and Grafschaft Bentheim region.
Guidelines for security concepts
The security aspects at major events must be comprehensively examined. To this end, an interdepartmental working group has developed an orientation framework to support municipalities in planning and implementing outdoor events, especially when there is an increased risk potential, such as in North Rhine-Westphalia informed. This framework defines a structured procedure for ensuring security and places great emphasis on systematic follow-up to continuously improve security standards.
In Lingen, the police thanked everyone involved for the orderly first day of the event and announced that the accompanying measures would be continued on Saturday. It remains to be hoped that this positive balance will continue to shape the coming days.
