Heidmühler FC: Young talents shine at regional championships!
An exciting weekend for athletics took place in Delmenhorst, where the Regional Championships were carried out. Particularly in the spotlight is 11-year-old Lea Beneke from Heidmühler FC, who ran a remarkable run over 2000 meters and won the title with a time of 8:13 minutes. This also secured her third place in the Lower Saxony best list in her age group and a ticket to the team state championship.
Her coach and father, Kay Beneke, was proud and emphasized that she was only seven seconds short of the absolute top group. It is such top performers who advance young talent in sport.
Fast-paced competitions and personal bests
Ronja Daike Harms, also from HFC, also made a mark at these championships. She won the region titles in the three and four events and set a personal best in the 100 meters of 14.31 seconds. Her teammate Nieke Rodegro was also impressive with 14.21 seconds. Despite unpleasant weather with heavy rain, Harms managed a strong 10.25 meters in the shot put, while Rodegro achieved 7.03 meters.
Both athletes showed a solid performance in the long jump. Harms and Rodegro not only dominate their disciplines, but also the points ranking. While Harms scored a total of 1,440 points in the three-way battle, Rodegro scored 1,286 points. In the high jump, Harms was successful with 1.46 meters and collected 1,921 points in the final tally, while Rodegro achieved 1,743 points with 1.42 meters.
In the W11, Jana Begenat (906 points) and Jonna Behrens (878 points) achieved respectable placings of fifth and seventh. Both runners completed the 2000 meters in just over ten minutes.
Hannah Weigert celebrated a pleasant return, coming fourth in the three-way competition and second in the four-way competition after an injury break. The results not only reflect individual successes, but also the continuous work of the entire coaching team.
Eike Hudaff: Only male representative
In contrast to the girls' strong performances, Eike Hudaff was the only male HFC starter. He took tenth place in the three-way competition with 795 points and completed the 2000 meter run in 9:23 minutes, which brought him fifth place. The commitment of the athletes is particularly remarkable, as Kay Beneke noted that only half the team was at the start, but this cannot detract from the achievements already achieved.
These championships are not only a showcase of talent, but also an important part of the ongoing development of the youth sector. The NLV has kept the best list since 1948 and uses the current ranking to show the progress of the athletes in its statistics. The best list is updated almost weekly and offers an overview of the achievements of both youth and seniors.
The German Athletics Association (DLV) recently published the annual best lists for the 2023 outdoor season, which show that the level of competition has been maintained or increased throughout. Such achievements are the motivation for the upcoming competitions and encourage the athletes to continue to give full throttle. It remains to be seen what further successes the Heidmühler FC athletes will celebrate in the future!
