On Saturday June 21st an exciting event will take place in Hoorn, North Holland: The Talent Express LIVE #1. In the new event location De Huesmolen, 22 young talents from the musical associations Zwaag and Z&V Opmeer will demonstrate their skills. The anticipation is great because the participants have been working intensively on their solo and duo performances in the last few weeks. Under professional guidance, not only were the singing skills sharpened, but aspects such as text handling, self-confidence and stage presence were also trained. Lighting planning, costume design and stage construction were also used in the design of their performances. In keeping with the spirit of the Stichting Karaktiristiek initiative, which is organized in collaboration with the MusicalGilde West-Friesland, the focus is on promoting young talent in the region. Musical director Peter Groenendijk is one of the initiators and is passionately committed to the development of the participants.
The Talent Express is more than just a show – it is a platform that enables young people to grow in musical theater and music production. Participants take full responsibility for their performances and decisions while receiving support from experienced coaches. The focus is on an educational and entertaining development process that not only promotes singing skills, but also strengthens creativity and teamwork. Participants learn to learn from and motivate each other, which enriches the entire experience.
Insights into theater education
The training of talented young people is also based on the principles of theater education, which is taught in institutions such as the University of the Arts in Berlin. Here, aspiring theater educators learn how they can work with different target groups, be it in renowned theaters, in the amateur sector or in social projects. Modern theater education places high demands on the teaching of scenic skills and didactics, which is also used in practice in workshops and performances.
The artists of The Talent Express not only learn the stage solo, but also immerse themselves in the various facets of theater. Breathing, voice and movement are just as much on the curriculum as scenic work and special forms of theater. Such qualifications could be crucial for the participants if they want to take the step into professional theater after their time in Hoorn.
