Leifert Bakery is fighting for survival: 40 branches remain open!

The popular Leifert bakery chain, based in Gifhorn, has filed for self-administration bankruptcy. Despite this shaky situation, all 40 of the company's branches continue to operate without restrictions. The Gifhorn District Court determined this in a preliminary decision after the management submitted the application in order to successfully steer the company through the crisis. T Online reports that the branches are continuing to offer the usual range of products in the usual quality, even though the company is in a difficult market situation.

The reasons for insolvency are varied and range from a weak economy to sharp increases in energy and raw material costs. Managing director Nils Leifert has clearly positioned himself in this critical phase: “We intend to keep all branches open,” he emphasizes. Around 220 employees are also protected from wage losses for the time being because their salaries are covered by the employment agency's insolvency benefit.

Renovation in focus

When reorganizing the company, Leifert relies on self-administration court proceedings, which aim to extensively adapt the structures. How RegionalToday reports, the main aim is to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the family business, which has existed since 1950. The restructuring process is supported by lawyer Joachim Walterscheid, who advises the management on both legal and business matters.

Another aspect of the restructuring is the appointment of Dr. Malte Köster as interim administrator who monitors the process in the interests of all those involved. Leifert is optimistic and is working on detailed planning to guarantee liquidity and develop new perspectives for the company. The range, which includes freshly baked natural sourdough breads and a selection of cakes and snacks, will continue to be offered and even an event delivery service is available.

The Leifert bakery has made a name for itself in the region and stands for quality and tradition in the baking trade. In this transition phase, it remains to be seen how the company will develop further, but the continued opening of the branches gives hope for a good hand in times of crisis.
