A new creative place is emerging in Gifhorn. Birgitta Below, an artist who comes from the region, will open a pop-up studio at the Ceka fountain. This area of over 100 square meters, which previously served as a travel agency, will now be used as a space for creative work. Loud WAZ Online Below plans to start the studio on November 15th and be open on weekly market days, i.e. Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
With her project, Below aims to create a new artistic network in the city center. She hopes that other artists and art enthusiasts will join this exciting project. The idea came about to increase the attractiveness of the city and to actively combat vacancies instead of just complaining about them.
Art and creativity in focus
What exactly does “art” mean? The term originally comes from Middle Low German and is deeply rooted in our culture. It not only refers to artistry and ability, but also the knowledge of creating something - and that's exactly what Below wants to achieve in her studio. The Gifhorn Economic Development Agency, under the leadership of managing director Martin Ohlendorf, actively supports the project. She established contact with the landlord and is working with Below on the conditions for using the studio, which is initially scheduled to last until at least February 2024. Consideration is also being given to using additional vacant space on Steinweg for creative projects, which could further promote positive change in the city center.

In the pop-up studio, Below won't just be working creatively - she'll also be offering a variety of products for sale, including cards, card sets, notebooks and calendars. With her social education training and the passion for art that she discovered during rehab, Below wants to bring art as an experience to the city center.
