Göttingen billiards stars win Wob Town Winter Classics in Fallersleben!

The Wob Town Winter Classics kept the billiards community in suspense on the last weekend in December in Fallersleben. A total of 32 teams of two fought for the title in the team tournament and 64 participants dueled in the individual tournament. The host, the Pool-Billiard-Sportgemeinschaft Wolfsburg, received an excellent response. Like that Göttingen Tageblatt reported that the event was a complete success.

In an exciting team tournament, the players Thomas Lüttich and Frank Brouwer from Göttingen were able to successfully defend their title. The two proved to be unbeatable compared to the other teams and thus did good business. There was also a lot of excitement in the individual tournament and the games were of a high standard. Paul Müller from Chemnitz (SV Motor Babelsberg) secured first place, followed by Steffen Breitkopf from Berlin. Third place went to Hannes Stiller (Halle) and Sandro Zschunke (Berlin), who also did well in the quarterfinals.

Positive feedback and new projects

The organizers, Thomas Hauck and Martin Poguntke from Wolfsburg, reached the quarterfinals in the individual tournament and took an active part in the organization. Their efforts were rewarded with positive feedback regarding the level of sport, fairness and general response. In the future, the PBSG Wolfsburg is planning further events to give billiards more space in the region. The game mode of the next tournament will feature a double knockout in 9-ball format, with a maximum number of participants of 32 teams in the doubles tournament and 64 in the singles tournament. Registration takes place via email and participants must register with an entry fee of €30.
