Sartorius from Göttingen celebrates a surge in sales despite global challenges!
There is news from the laboratory and pharmaceutical industry in Cologne. Sartorius, a major supplier from Göttingen, can look back on a successful first half of 2025. How Sat1 Regional reported, the company's sales increased by around 6% compared to the same period last year to an impressive 1.77 billion euros, which is appealing, especially when you consider the current global challenges.
The new CEO Michael Grosse is optimistic and sees the group on the right track to achieving its annual goals despite all adversities. What is particularly pleasing is the almost doubled increase in adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), which now stands at 527 million euros. The surplus after third-party shares also increased by a third to 81 million euros.
Current market development
An interesting trend is emerging in the demand for consumables. This has picked up again, particularly in the high-margin pharmaceutical segment. However, customers are cautious about new investments and have already built up inventory over the last two years, which is understandable. Those too reporting on Sartorius' business situation shows that 2024 has stabilized, although there are challenges in the life sciences industry.
The stabilizing development was particularly noticeable in the second half of the year, where a significant upswing was observed in the final quarter. Customers have reduced their inventory levels to a suitable level, which is now leading to a gradual return to an order level that meets their production activities. The business with products for advanced therapies is also showing above-average development.
Corporate structure and employee development
Another aspect that speaks for the positive development is the recently completed savings program, which was worth over 100 million euros and successfully structured the company until 2024. Internal processes were streamlined, resulting in a slight increase in the workforce to 13,685 employees. This is 157 more than at the end of 2024, with additional jobs being created particularly in manufacturing.
Overall, Sartorius appears to be well positioned to overcome the existing challenges and start the second half of the year with fresh momentum. The positive market development and the thorough corporate strategy could be useful for the company in the future to remain high in business.
