Colorful spectacle: World Children's Theater Festival in Lingen delights children!

This year, Lingen is all about theater for children: the 16th World Children's Theater Festival will take place from June 27th to July 4th, 2025. The festival, which brings together around 300 children from four continents, has made a name for itself in the international theater landscape. Under the motto “It’s about us!” The little actors will speak the universal language of theater to address friendship, courage and the growing self. In addition to the diverse theater and dance productions, visitors can also expect exciting workshops and an open exchange about cultures and perspectives, as nordnews.de reports.

A very special highlight of the festival will be the performance of the play “Journey to the Center of Alhijara” by the Mexican children’s theater group “Pequeños Creadores Teatro” on July 2, 2025 in the Alte Weberei cultural center in Nordhorn. The production takes up the well-known story by Jules Verne and addresses the central questions of growing up. During the afternoon, the stage will not only host professional performances; At 5 p.m., audiences young and old can get creative themselves at an open theater workshop with the members of the Mexican group.

A festival with tradition and future

The World Children's Theater Festival was launched in 1990 and is considered the oldest and largest festival of its kind in the world. The city of Lingen and the Lingen Theater Education Center (TPZ) are the driving forces behind this unique event, which takes place every two years and is organized in Lingen itself every fourth year. The Grafschaft Bentheim district is supporting the 2025 festival with 10,000 euros, thereby ensuring the continuation of the cultural educational work, which is supported with 20,000 euros every year. Thanks to an additional grant of 11,000 euros, the TPZ's theater educational work will continue to be supported, as wikipedia.de makes clear.

Festival participants will not only be on stage, but will also be actively involved in the community. Not only performances are planned, but also discussions, playing together and a rich supporting program. Host families will offer visitors from home and abroad a temporary home and round off the big festival with celebrations and culinary experiences, as the festival's official website weltkindertheaterfest.de notes.

For those who would like to be part of this magical event, tickets for the performance are available in advance. The price is 12 euros, reduced price 8 euros. Don't miss the opportunity to experience the world of children's theater art up close and celebrate the creativity of young talent!
