Vehicle crash in Soltau: Police are urgently looking for witnesses!
A worrying incident occurred in Soltau between October 26th and October 28th, in which a vehicle crashed into the corner of a house at Bergstrasse 2, at the corner of Postgang. The Heidekreis police station reported on November 4th that the accident caused enormous damage to the building and the glass facade. Investigators suspect that it is a MAN truck. In the hope of clarification, the police are now urgently looking for witnesses and asking them to call (05191) 93800.
The circumstances of the accident not only raise questions about road safety in Soltau, but also shed light on the current problems on the roads in the Heidekreis. In the last three and a half weeks there have been catastrophic traffic accidents on the A7, including two deaths, six seriously injured and 27 slightly injured. The total number of sheet metal damages has risen to several million euros, worrying residents and commuters alike.
Road safety in focus
Police Inspector Stefan Sengel has repeatedly warned of a possible increase in the number of accidents, which could rise by up to eight percent. This clearly shows the urgent need for action to avoid accidents. An effective concept to increase traffic safety is already being implemented. The “Accident – Be careful!” initiative should now also be extended to the motorway. Some preventive measures are planned for this purpose.
- Plakate in Toilettenhäuschen werden verteilt.
- Ein Kurzfilm zur Verkehrsprävention wird produziert.
- Die Frequenz der Videowagen wird intensiviert.
In addition, residents of the motorway have to endure the noise and exhaust fumes, as District Administrator Manfred Ostermann emphasizes. Temporary speed measurements of bridges are also planned, while six banners will be put up at the relevant locations to highlight accident hotspots. The first measures, including reducing speeds to 60 km/h in construction areas, are due to come into force next week.
Increased commitment to safety
What is particularly noteworthy is that six senior emergency doctors are now given special signal options to enable faster access to accident scenes. In addition, the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport will also set up cones with multilingual warnings and attach haptic markings at traffic jam end points. Overtaking bans and corresponding information signs should also contribute to safety.
Regardless of whether in Soltau or on the A7, the issue of road safety concerns citizens. Creating a more conscious approach on the roads should be in everyone's interest so that such dangerous situations can be avoided in the future. The police and the relevant authorities are working hard to increase safety for all road users.
