Carnival candle is burning: Höxter celebrates 50 years of CVWB in the border triangle!
A very special event heralds the start of the 2025/2026 carnival in the Holzminden and Höxter districts! At 11:11 a.m. on November 11th, in keeping with tradition, numerous carnival fans gathered at the state border between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. The Carnevalsverein Weserbrücke e.V. (CVWB) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and has not missed the opportunity to pay tribute to this. Under the motto “The CVWB glitters without limits – there is really something going on in the border triangle!” The mood was already within reach in the morning. Hoexter News reports on a colorful start that made the audience's hearts beat faster.
What makes the beginning of this carnival session so unique? The tradition of the key to the Red Town Hall in Lauenförde, which has many fans in these circles. The carnivalists competed against the Lauenförde von 1882 e.V. shooting club, which tried to keep the key with an impressive defensive strategy. The shooting club was well equipped with cannons, rifles and a barrier, but the ladies of the blue and white guard countered with confetti cannons and the old guard used umbrellas. Whether and how the male carnivalists were ultimately able to break the defense can be attributed to the exciting story of this festive day.
A celebration for everyone
After the brilliant start, there was a colorful program on the Kellerplatz in Beverungen in the afternoon, where the anniversary prince couples were proclaimed at 5:11 p.m. CVWB President Daniel Zarnitz was proud of the successful start and truly, that gives hope for an exciting season. Carnival fans can look forward to many other events, because the celebrations are not just limited to Lauenförde.
