Saddle up and cycle for a good cause: around Solling 2025!

The anticipation is increasing! On October 5, 2025, the Holzminden Lions Club invites you to the 16th charity bike ride “Around the Solling”. This popular event, which not only promotes cycling in a picturesque landscape, has made a name for itself primarily through its support of the German Bone Marrow Donor Database (DKMS). Since the first edition, the Lions Club has already collected an impressive 153,000 euros for this good cause Hoexter News reported.

A diverse range of routes

The bike ride offers something for everyone: racing cyclists can look forward to two routes of 120 km and 63 km, while mountain bike enthusiasts will get their money's worth on the 57 km long route. If you want to take it at a leisurely pace, you can take the 30 km long touring cycle route that leads to the Corvey World Heritage Site. E-bike fans can look forward to a 50 km long route that leads through the picturesque Rühler Schweiz. The start and end point of the event is the Stiebel-Eltron-Halle at the Liebigstraße sports center in Holzminden.

Participants can look forward to free full catering during the journey, including breakfast and food on the route. The culmination of the event is a cozy after-tour party with bratwursts and drinks. The entry fee of 25 euros can already be paid via the event website Rund-um-den-solling.de or paid via the RaceResult portal.

Social responsibility in focus

But the activities of the Holzminden Lions Club are not limited to this bike ride. Committed to social projects in the region, the club has, among other things, donated a new bench in front of the Luther Church in Holzminden, which is available to all visitors to the church square. Supporting regional initiatives and institutions is also very important to the Lions Club. Over the years, projects such as the Advent calendar, which brought in an impressive 32,500 euros in 2024, have raised a total of more than 430,000 euros for social purposes.

An example of such a donation is the “Kindergarten plus” project, which focuses on preventative measures for children and young people. The Lions Peace Bench was also inaugurated, which serves as a symbol of international understanding and intercultural exchange. The Lions Club shows that commitment to the community and social responsibility go hand in hand.

Future-oriented projects from Leo clubs

As part of the Leo Lions Service Day 2025, the committed Leo clubs nationwide support social projects that primarily revolve around blind and visually impaired children. This includes tactile learning materials that help children discover their world through touch, and mobility training in the snow, which offers the children concerned the opportunity to experience skiing and strengthen their self-confidence. These initiatives underline how important such social projects are for the inclusion and support of children and young people LEO clubs emphasized.

With this commitment and the upcoming charity bike ride, the Lions and Leo clubs in Holzminden have once again proven how important collective efforts are for a better future. So prepare your bikes and do good - registration for the bike ride is already possible!
