Volleyball showdown: BR Volleys challenge unbeaten SVG Lüneburg!
On Wednesday, November 12th, the Berlin Recycling Volleys face an exciting duel against SVG Lüneburg. The top game will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Volleyball Temple, where the upper tier will be open to fans. There is a lot of hype surrounding this encounter, as the BR Volleys are currently in eighth place in the table, while Lüneburg are undefeated in second place. This can be a real test for the Berliners, especially after the narrow defeat in the preparatory game, which Lüneburg won 3-2.
The anticipation for the match is great. Captain Ruben Schott emphasizes that the pressure surrounding the game comes from outside, but sees it as an opportunity to prove himself against a strong opponent. “It's early in the season and we can see our progress compared to previous games,” says Schott. It is all the more important to concentrate on the strengths of Lüneburg, who won their last league game with a clear 3-0 defeat against VfB Friedrichshafen.
Strong performances and returnees in the squad
Ruben Schott particularly emphasizes Lüneburg's serving strength and at the same time recognizes potential for improvement in his own team. What is particularly interesting is that the BR Volleys suffered their only main round defeat against Lüneburg last season, and they also had to admit defeat by Lüneburg in the CEV Champions League competition. However, the BR Volleys were able to win the title in the playoff final with a convincing 3-0 win against SVG Lüneburg and thus become German champions for the 15th time. This sense of achievement provides additional motivation.
Looking ahead to the upcoming game, Fedor Ivanov and Nehemiah Mote return to the squad after absences due to illness and injury respectively. Schott hopes that the team will gain self-confidence and prepare well for the upcoming tasks in the cup and the Champions League.
Special promotions on match day
Another highlight of the evening will be the campaign by Berlin Recycling GmbH as “Partner of the Match Day”. Here, spectators can expect exciting offers, such as a quiz and the “Mach’s Jut crate”, where items can be collected for recycling.
