In the tranquil town of Oldenburg this is the case Oldenburg International Film Festival opened its doors today and will delight cinema fans with an impressive program until Sunday. A total of around 50 short and feature films are on the list, including 13 exciting world premieres and 13 German premieres. A special highlight is the opening film “Eugene the Marine” by US director Hank Bedford, which will captivate the audience.
“Eugene the Marine” tells the moving story of a former soldier who is confronted with the challenges of his life and his son's resistance to moving into a retirement home. The whole thing is rocked by mysterious murders, which raises the question: "How far would you go to defend the right to live your life on your own terms?", as Bedford puts it. Unfortunately, the lead actor Scott Glenn, who shines in the role of Eugene and has already received numerous awards for his performances, cannot appear at the premiere for health reasons.
A very special guest of honor
But that's not all the festival has to offer. Another prominent guest is expected: US music producer James William Guercio. Guercio, known for his collaborations with bands such as Chicago and the Beach Boys, will present his 1973 film "Electra Glide in Blue" during the festival. The film is about a motorcycle cop who dreams of fighting crime and wants to switch to homicide.
The event places great emphasis on innovative and independent filmmaking and aims to discover and promote young talent. The organizers are expecting around 12,000 visitors who can look forward to the screenings in various cinemas and theaters in Oldenburg.

Scott Glenn, known for his brilliant roles in Urban Cowboy, Silence of the Lambs and many other films, will be honored with a tribute during the festival. Some of his most famous works are shown in this section, including:

Scott Glenn, born January 26, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is not only known for his acting versatility, but also has an impressive five decades in the film business. He has portrayed a variety of characters throughout his career and received an Emmy nomination for his role in HBO's hit series "The White Lotus." From September 10th to 14th he will be in Oldenburg and will take part in various events.
