New cathedral chapter for Osnabrück: Dirk Meyer takes on an important role!

On October 29, 2025 there will be news from the Diocese of Osnabrück that will be of interest to many believers. Dirk Meyer, a well-known face in the Catholic community, was appointed resident cathedral chapter by Bishop Dominicus Meier OSB. This happened after Reinhard Molitor left the committee due to age. Meyer, who works as Regent and head of priest training in the diocese of Osnabrück, already has an impressive career in the church. In 2002 he was ordained a priest in Osnabrück.

Dirk Meyer's inauguration will take place on Sunday, November 30th, at 5 p.m. in St. Petrus Cathedral in Osnabrück. He will be CMI together with two other honorary canons, Prof. Felix Bernard and Father Jose Mathew Kuzhichalil, who will continue to carry out their previous duties. Bernard, who has been head of the Lower Saxony Catholic Office since 1998, also holds the titles of honorary professor and honorary prelate. Father Jose, pastor of the parish of St. Augustinus in Nordhorn, will soon be moving to the parish community of St. Josef and St. Antonius Abt.

Keep an eye on the church services

The cathedral chapter plays an important role in supporting and advising the bishop in the management of the diocese and in organizing the services in the cathedral church. In this important role, the cathedral chapter is led by Auxiliary Bishop Johannes Wübbe and has a total of nine members. Meyer brings a lot of experience to this new role and has already made a name for himself as the diocesan president of the Kolping Association.

Felix Bernard, 70 years old, was also ordained a priest in Osnabrück in 1985. He has had a multi-faceted career - this experienced clergyman was previously a chaplain and judge in the Episcopal Office. His connections to the University of Osnabrück as an honorary professor since 1998 are further evidence of his contribution to Catholic education.
