Osnabrück promotes sustainable heat supply: Secure subsidies now!

The city of Osnabrück has once again taken up the cause of promoting renewable heat supply. Thanks to the “Osnabrück Redeveloped” program, valuable funding is also available this year, as the Oldenburger Online Zeitung reports. In particular, the demand for subsidies for photovoltaic systems and building insulation is increasing and shows that citizens are ready to actively contribute to the energy transition.

But there is still a lot of untapped potential in the area of heat supply. The city administration has set itself the goal of raising awareness about this and creating incentives. From July 2025, additional subsidies for climate-friendly heating solutions can be applied for. Anyone interested in shared heat supply solutions also receives support through advisory services for neighborhoods and subsidies for moderating owner meetings.

New funding opportunities from July

Particular attention is also paid to geothermal drillings: Even if they are not used directly to supply heat, applications for subsidies can be submitted. Funding is also available for heating load calculations and hydraulic balancing of older systems. This opens up numerous opportunities for homeowners to modernize their heating systems and make them more sustainable.

In addition to these environmentally friendly developments, Osnabrück is also facing exciting events in other areas. The newly designed Osnabrück app, which is now available free of charge in the app stores, offers a colorful mix of useful information. From interesting places to the ability to report road damage, the app has a lot to offer. Above all, it also shows the emptying dates for organic waste bins - a real service for citizens.

Prize winners and exhibitions in Osnabrück

But that's not all that's currently happening in Osnabrück. The photographer Maximilian Mann was awarded the “German Peace Prize for Photography”. His project “Last Rescue Oberhausen” prevailed against international competition from 88 countries. At the award ceremony, which is supported by the city of Osnabrück and the Felix Schoeller company, prizes were also awarded in other categories: Axel Javier Sulzbacher received the prize in the “Sustainability” category for his work “Green Dystopia” and Verdiana Albano was honored in the “Young Talent” category.

The outstanding works and the nominations can be seen in the Museumsquartier Osnabrück until February 22, 2026. The exhibition and education program “Ghosts” invites you to deal with topics such as transgenerational trauma and the transfer of knowledge. Visitors are invited to contribute their own memories and artwork to promote critical dialogue about history.

Osnabrück shows itself to be a city in transition - whether through sustainable initiatives or through cultural highlights. It remains exciting to see what the coming months will bring!
