Schleper Schützenfest: A weekend full of fun and tradition!

On the third weekend in July it's that time again: the annual shooting festival of the Hubertus Schützenverein Schleper is just around the corner and is exciting the community. But not only the people of Schleper, numerous guests from the surrounding area are warmly invited to celebrate together.

Preparations for the festival are already in full swing. On Saturday, July 12th, residents in the towns of Lohe, Lahre, Dörgen and Huden began decorating their villages. On Friday, July 18th, the marquee at the Schleper youth home was lovingly prepared. On Saturday, July 19th, the festival begins at 2 p.m. with the traditional prize shooting at the KK stand, which lasts until around 6 p.m. before the evening activities begin.

A colorful program for everyone

Saturday evening promises to be a real atmosphere-maker with an XXL beer pong tournament and an electro party night with DJ Doen and DJ Lukwub. And the celebrations continue on Sunday, July 20th. From 10 a.m. the prize shooting goes into the next round and ends with an exciting play-off until around 5 p.m. For younger guests there is, among other things, a bouncy castle, carousels and trampolines - all free of charge!

  • Preisvergabe: Sonntag gegen 21 Uhr.

Sunday evening will end in an atmospheric way with a large ball and the live band “SunTime” from 8 p.m. This is followed by Monday, which begins with a Holy Mass in the festival tent at 9 a.m. and musical accompaniment by the Burgmannskapelle “Alt Haselünne”. Club members have breakfast together at 10 a.m., while the shooting competition is in full swing at the same time.

Tradition meets modernity

As with many shooting festivals, the big parade is a highlight here. The festival program on Monday starts at 3 p.m. with the arrival of the shooters to pick up the new king. A children's entertainment at 4:45 p.m., at which the king and his court distribute sweets, raises the expectations of the younger guests. The coronation ball on Monday evening with the dance and party band “Cocktail” promises a crowning conclusion to the celebrations.

Shooting festivals have a long tradition in Germany. They are important social events where the community comes together. According to the information on alle-schuetzenvereine.de There are over 15,000 shooting clubs in Germany and the celebrations usually vary from place to place, but offer many of the same traditions, such as shooting competitions to crown the new shooting king and festive parades to keep regional customs alive.

The festival in Schleper symbolizes community cohesion - something that can be found in many German cities. The shooting festival in Flingern, which takes place from June 28th to July 1st, 2025, also shows the diversity and fun that such events can bring localbuero.com reported.

When the shooters hand over the king's target to the new king on Friday, August 1st at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening, the anticipation for next year is already great. The shooting festival in Schleper remains an important part of cultural life in the region.

Cheers to the shooting festivals!
