Kunstverein Stade opens EigenArt: A festival of abstraction!
The Stade Art Association e. V. invites art lovers to the member exhibition “EigenArt”, which will be on display under the title “From Concrete to Abstraction” from November 2nd to 30th, 2025 at the Kunstpunkt Schleusenhaus, Altländer Straße 2 in Stade. The opening will take place on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 at 11 a.m. This exhibition presents the works of two impressive artists: Irma Erckrath from Nottensdorf and Gisela Kulicke from Stade. Entry is free!
The exhibition shows a kaleidoscope of images in various formats, reflecting both the artistic diversity and the individual styles of the two artists. The event is supported by Sparkasse Stade-Altes Land, which underlines the importance of this cultural initiative. But what exactly can visitors expect?
Irma Erckrath – A journey into her own cosmos
Irma Erckrath, born in 1953, began her artistic career with pottery, but soon turned to painting. Shaped by the support of art friends Elana Kühn and Jobst Tilmann, she found her unmistakable style. In her pictures, which she often creates using the traditional egg tempera technique, she paints “her own cosmos of the world”. This technique requires a precise mixture of egg, dammar resin and balsam turpentine, which gives her works a special luminosity. Their colors are often broken, grayish tones that create their own lighting atmosphere.
Mattias Weber, an artist from Stade, describes Erckrath's art as "spotty" and "decisive", and highlights the intensity with which she works during the creative process. In addition to her artistic work, Erckrath also gives courses at the Buxtehude adult education center, where she shares her passion for painting. She even ran her own gallery in Buxtehude until 2013, but it has now closed.
Gisela Kulicke – art as a meaning of life
Gisela Kulicke, born in Bavaria in 1944 and raised in Hamburg, received her artistic training as a teacher at the University of Fine Arts. During her teaching career, she began to engage more intensively with art. After her retirement, painting became a central part of her life. Kulicke's works are characterized by expressive coloring and dynamic compositions that captivate the viewer.
Through their works, both artists tell of the transformation from the concrete to the abstract and invite visitors to embark on this visual journey. The combination of Erckrath's sensitive colors and Kulicke's dynamic shapes offers an inspiring experience for anyone interested in art.
