Massive speeder stopped on the B74: 148 km/h instead of 70 km/h!

Today, October 27, 2025, an unpleasant incident occurred on the B74 towards Stade that required police attention. A driver was caught speeding at a staggering 148 km/h, while the maximum speed limit at this point is just 70 km/h. Of course, such fast journeys are not only dangerous, but also expensive. The driver of a Hyundai with a license plate from Rotenburg/Wümme will probably have to expect a fine of 700 euros and two points in Flensburg. He also faces a driving ban for three months.

A total of 1,668 vehicles were detected as part of an intensive speed check, which was carried out over a period of around three hours. Only five of them exceeded the speed limit. It remains to be hoped that further speed monitoring in cooperation with the police can not only increase road safety, but also prevent accidents with injuries or even deaths. The aim of these measures is clear: more safety on the roads.

Police focus on speeders

For the driver who so blatantly disregarded safety limits, the punishment could be even more severe if deliberate intent is proven. In this case, the fine could double to a total of up to 1,400 euros. This example should also give other road users something to think about: speed is not everything, and traffic rules are there for a good reason.

In recent years, speed measurements and controls have increased in many regions. The police are particularly active on busy roads such as the B74 in order to deal with the problem of speeding. The regular checks show that, despite the increased presence of speed measurements, there are still drivers who do not take speed very seriously.

The desire for more traffic safety

The issue of road safety concerns us all. Every year there are accident figures that rekindle public interest in safe driving. Local authorities are doing their part by working in partnership with the police to develop solutions to make the streets safer. By intensifying controls, the risk of serious accidents will be minimized.

In view of the repeated incidents, such as the recent one on the B74, it is advisable to take a look at your own driving behavior. Everyone can do their part to make the roads safer for everyone: drive within speed limits, reduce distracted driving and use modern safety technologies. Ultimately, we care not only about traffic figures, but above all about the lives and health of all road users.
