Water playground in Stades Hahle: Children are waiting for repairs!
There has been a new district park in the Hahle district of Stade since the summer of 2023, which represents an attractive local recreation area for residents. The park not only offers play and exercise opportunities for all age groups, but also cleverly connects important facilities such as schools, daycare centers, churches and businesses via a barrier-free network of paths. The various adventure areas, such as a basketball court, a small playing field and a bouldering wall, offer lots of fun and variety for the entire family. The park also boasts a calisthenics facility, balancing equipment and stepping stones. The integration of an “edible schoolyard” with fruit, nuts and berries along the way also promotes conscious, healthy eating among visitors. It is a real gem of the city that also shows resilience to the challenges of climate change, including through infiltration swales and a public drinking water station. The residents were actively involved in the planning, which ensured a high level of identification with the new resort. District newspaper weekly reports that the park's water playground has been out of operation for around two weeks. The reason for this is a defective pump system, which turned out to be a technical problem with the electrical system.
The closure of the popular water playground is a bitter disappointment for the children in Hahle. City spokesman Stephan Voigt confirmed that the city is currently in contact with the responsible company to resolve the problem. There is still a warranty claim, which is why the exact time for recommissioning is unfortunately still unclear. The anticipation of the reopening is still great.
The development of Hahle
Since the town center of Hahle was included in the urban development funding program “Active City and District Centers” in 2017, Hahle has been continuously working on upgrading public spaces. This measure includes central main streets such as Lerchenweg and Bielfeldtweg as well as various play and leisure areas. The new play and meeting park was implemented in the district, which ensures social networking and serves as an identification point for the residents. The city of Stade emphasizes that the social infrastructure in Hahle is particularly remarkable and the creation of attractive, safe and modern playgrounds is essential.
As part of the “Climate-Sensitive Urban Development” project, it was also taken into account that increasing building density in particular is playing a greater role for urban green spaces and play areas. These areas are not only important for quality of life, but also offer space for exercise and relaxation, especially in socially disadvantaged areas. Studies prove that the networking of green spaces is crucial for the quality of life in neighborhoods. Therefore, measures to promote ecological diversity and create “green stepping stones” between parks are essential.
In the coming years, the city will continue to invest in the renovation and redesign of areas such as Lerchenweg. The laying of larger sewer lines and improving the infrastructure for non-motorized road users are on the agenda. The district park is the first public measure in the Hahle redevelopment area that has already been implemented. This makes it clear: Hahle has big plans and the advantages of a liveable district are secured for the future.
