Tempo 30 in Thedinghausen: Safety for students and residents!

Braunschweiger Straße (L203) in Thedinghausen is a central traffic artery that encounters numerous road users every day, including residents, students and truck drivers. Especially in times of traffic jams on the A1 near Bremen, the road is often used for diversions, which further exacerbates the already tense traffic situation. A new plan calls for reducing speeds on the busy street to increase pedestrian and cyclist safety. Residents can look forward to a public meeting in the town hall on August 21st, where the topic will be discussed in detail. The Committee for Youth, Social Affairs, Sport and Order has already made preparations and will discuss a desired 30 km/h zone, which should be extended not only to the central bus station, but also to the entrance to Thedinghausen.

Currently, cramped conditions and frequent conflicts on the narrow sidewalks in front of shops and overcrowded streets are leading to dangerous situations, especially for the students walking to school in front of the Gudewill School. Students coming from the direction of Achim often use the central bus station, which leads to a high level of traffic on this route to school. The traffic situation is not only exciting, but also worrying, as the street runs through the town center with the town hall and daycare center.

A look at the Braunschweig sausage

Speaking of Braunschweiger: Directly linked to the name of the street, in Germany “Braunschweiger” means a type of Mettwurst. What is particularly interesting for the gourmet readers is that the sausage is prepared in different versions - interpreted differently depending on the region. In Austria, for example, Braunschweiger is found as a boiled sausage, which consists of a mixture of pork and beef and has a high content of vitamin A and iron. While in the USA Braunschweiger is often equated with liver sausage, in Germany it remains a regionally valued specialty that can also be found in sandwiches, on crackers or as a spread. Wikipedia reports, that Braunschweiger became particularly known for the preservation method of canning, which has contributed to its spread since the early 19th century.

But back to the traffic situation in Thedinghausen: The Verden district requested a statement on the speed reduction on July 15th. The situation regarding the right-of-way regulation at the pumping station in Thedinghausen-Eißel was also changed in order to avoid critical situations. These measures are intended not only to contribute to pedestrian safety, but also to improve traffic flow. The committee will certainly keep citizens' concerns in mind and incorporate all suggestions into the decision.

With so many topics and developments, Thedinghausen certainly doesn't stand still. On August 21st, residents can expect exciting discussions about traffic routing at the public meeting. Whether it's a good idea to slow down will certainly be a hot topic. What do you think about that?
