The joy of discovery on the Werla: Open Monument Day on September 14th!
On Sunday, September 14th, 2025, things will be colorful and lively at the Kaiserpfalz Werla in Werlaburgdorf. This day is dedicated to remembering the rediscovery of the historic Palatinate complex 150 years ago. The Werle Friends' Association invites you from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to take part in the Open Monument Day to discover the fascinating history and nature surrounding this site.
The complex program is supported by the community, local fire departments, the police and important sponsors such as the Braunschweigische Landessparkasse and the public insurance company. A parking lot on the L615 that was completed in a timely manner ensures that the journey is comfortable for all visitors.
A variety of activities and guided tours
Visitors can look forward to a varied program. Special highlights are the tours with Henning and Jörg Meyer, which start at the refuge at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. For families there is a targeted tour with geoguide Ute Kabbes, which starts at 12 p.m. at the parking lot. The focus here is on interest in nature and the history of the Imperial Palace. This family tour is free of charge, but a donation is requested.
An equally exciting offering is the falconry demonstrations with Olaf Wahle and Melanie Kopkow, which take place on the viewing platform at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. In order to actively involve children and adults, the Kyffhäuser Bowhunter Heere offers the opportunity to try out a bow and arrow and a blowgun.
There are also lectures by Dr. Markus Blaich, which take place at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. And don't forget: from 5 p.m., if the weather is nice, brave visitors can even take part in a hot air balloon ride, organized by Detlev Quidde and the Okerballooning team.
A celebration for the whole family
Tim Helbig's team takes care of your physical well-being and provides coffee, cake and cold drinks. In addition, police riders and service dog handlers guarantee a safe atmosphere and present their animals. RegionalToday highlights how important Open Monument Day is in order to make the cultural significance of such places tangible and to promote appreciation of our history.
The day is an excellent opportunity for the whole family to discover history and culture, experience community and spend time in nature. In order to ensure everything runs smoothly, the organizers ask for disciplined parking, keeping paths clear and paying attention to the handling of residual waste. You can already look forward to the event - September 14th will be an unforgettable day in Werlaburgdorf!
