A worrying recall is spilling over supermarket shelves: Wingert Foods GmbH has recalled several of its ready meals. The reason for this step is increased levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) that have been detected in the products in question. These substances can not only damage the liver, but also pose genotoxic and carcinogenic risks. This particularly affects the popular roasted sausages in a spicy sauce with mashed potatoes and wine sauerkraut, which can be found in many refrigerators.
