Construction site chaos in Wolfsburg: bus lines affected! This is how you get along!

In the coming weeks, Wolfsburg will be working diligently on several construction sites that could affect the city's mobility. There is now important information for everyone who regularly uses public transport. The city has announced several construction measures that will come into force from July 14th to 20th, 2025. Regional today reports that numerous diversions of the WVG lines are necessary and passengers have to be prepared for some changes.

Those primarily affected are Schillerstrasse, Werderstrasse, Heinrich-Deumeland-Strasse and the Schloss stop. On Schillerstrasse there are diversions for lines 201, 202, 203, 204, 213, 215, 216, 218, 221, 222, 223, 225, 226 and 230. The diversion runs towards the main train station via the “Tucholskystraße” and “Lönsstraße” stops. In addition, lines 202, 215, 216, 218, 225, 226 and 230 also serve the “Heinrich-Heine-Straße” stop. Some adjustments to the departure times are necessary here.

Detours in detail

There will be diversions on lines 202/222 and 264 on Werderstrasse on July 14th and 15th. Due to construction work, these have to be rerouted between the “Eintracht Stadion” and “Kraunsbusch” stops, which also means that the “Eintracht Stadion”, “Kraunsbusch” and “Kandinskystraße” stops cannot be served in both directions. Here too, passengers must expect changes to the route and departure times.

In Mörse, especially on Heinrich-Deumeland-Straße, diversions are required for lines 204/224 and 263 from July 15th to 17th. Here the stops “Hattorfer Straße”, “Kolonie” and “Waldfrieden” will be eliminated in both directions and replacement stops will be set up for “Waldfrieden”. In addition, lines 204/224 and 263 have additional stops such as “Altmarkring”, “Wulfhagen” and “Küsterwiese”. In this case too, partial adjustments to the departure times are necessary.

Important stop changes

Let's come to the Schloss stop: This will not be served from July 16th to 19th in the direction of the main train station. The affected lines are 201/221, 202/222, 213, 264, 265, VB-Bachstein-Line 160 and KVG-Line 380. Passengers therefore have to rely on dropped stops and lines and can obtain further information and construction timetables online or via the WVG timetable app.

The preparations in the city come as no surprise, as the summer holidays in Wolfsburg began on Monday, June 24th. This has led the city to launch several construction projects that affect not only drivers but also bus traffic. A look at the list of construction sites shows that extensive renovation work is also underway at the St. Annen node and in Vorsfelde. These require passengers to patiently change their usual routes. The WZ has listed the diversions in detail, which makes planning easier for all road users. WAZ has compiled important information here.

In addition, you should also keep an eye on the current traffic situation, especially when it comes to the A39 motorway between Sandkamp and Fallersleben. There will be road narrowings there until December 29, 2025 due to bridge work. During this time, traffic jams and partial closures are to be expected. More details can also be found on the website Traffic situation.

Overall, it shows that the construction sites in Wolfsburg not only entail temporary restrictions, they are also part of a larger plan to improve the infrastructure. It is now important for citizens to obtain information in good time and, if necessary, plan alternative routes.
