The U19s of VfL Wolfsburg achieved a clear 2-1 win in a thrilling friendly against the U21s of Twente Heracles last Saturday. The Wolfsburg boys were wide awake from the start and showed impressive football skills, especially in the first half of the game. Bruno Katz scored the first goal of the game in the 11th minute after a mistake by the guests in the build-up. Almost 23 minutes later, Karlo Simic increased the score to 2-0, giving Wolfsburg a strong cushion before the break. The first warning shot came in the 6th minute from Trevor Benedict, who kept the Heracles defense on its toes.
The performance of goalkeeper Zielinski was particularly noticeable, as he parried a dangerous shot in the 19th minute and directed another long-range shot over the crossbar in the 31st minute. Wolfsburg didn't let up in the second half either. With a completely new line-up, they remained dominant in the game, but had a great chance for the third goal with Marko Mandity in the 47th minute, which he unfortunately missed.
The return of the enemy
In the 60th minute, Wolfsburg had to concede the next goal: Mauro Smit made it 2-1 after a corner.
